With the launch of the new (and improved) AAVC website, we are excited to offer a new template for club websites.
Each club has space to post important club information, links to events and like The Austin Vassar Club, interesting links about the local area. The new template will replace any pre-existing club websites hosted on AAVC's servers.
The Club Websites are behind authentication. To view club websites, you must be a registered member of the AAVC Online Community. Register here. You will need your Vassar ID, found on your VQ mailing label to complete registration.
To learn more about the Club Website template, please review our online instructions. In addition, AAVC is conducting online training sessions on the new website editing tools used to update/maintain your new club website, and notifies all club presidents and web masters by email of upcoming training dates. Other officers or newly-designated web masters are welcome to participate in the training sessions and should contact their club president for details on the next scheduled training sessions. |

The spring semester brings with it so much excitement on campus and throughout the country, as regional Vassar clubs are hosting a fabulous assortment of programs. I invite you to log on to the AAVC website to view the mix of intellectually and socially engaging programs, learn more about the helpful services that AAVC has to offer, or just reconnect with your freshman roommate.
Preparations for Reunion 2006 are underway, which will be held June 9–11. You can find out more information about the weekend’s events at http://www.aavc.vassar.edu/reunion/index.html.
Not long after reunion, we will say good-bye to President Fergusson after her 20-year commitment to the college and welcome our 10th president, Catharine (Cappy) Bond Hill. This is an exciting time for both the college and the alumnae/i.
Salve,
Charlene Larson ’05

Club Spotlight:
Florida Vassar Clubs |
|
|
| |
|
Dean of the College, Judy “JJ” Jackson, was invited to several Florida Vassar clubs as a distinguished speaker for their annual meetings. Dean Jackson’s presentation, titled Tending to the Whole Life of Vassar Students: A Living/Learning Approach, focused on her philosophy of student development. The following is a synopsis of the program held in January in Naples, Sarasota, and Tampa: |
|
“The typical story of Vassar students is one of limitless possibilities, as they explore the college curriculum, engage in bold and sensitive ways in the residential experience, and reach beyond themselves to grasp some of lifes deeper meanings. We aim to teach students to understand the value of leading purposeful, intellectually energetic, and socially responsible lives. To ensure such a student experience demands that college faculty and administration tend to the whole of Vassar students. Thus, a critical truth is that the classroom and residence life experiences are part of the same experience. This truth sustains our efforts and reinforces our commitment in our daily interactions.” |

Founder's Day Celebrations |
|
| |
This year Founder’s Day falls on Saturday, May 6. The campus committee is hard at work finalizing the plans for the on-campus celebration, and all alumnae/i are invited to return. However, we know it is not realistic for most to return. Vassar Clubs have, traditionally, hosted Founder’s Day celebrations regionally that allow for alumnae/i to gather for good food and fun times. We need your help!! Please let AAVC know as soon as possible if your club is planning a program. Kudos to the Maryland Vassar Club; they have already submitted the details for their event! |

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to Vassar alumnae/i volunteers as the new administrative assistant for programming.
In my position I will be assisting Charlene Larson with developing and supporting regional, club, and young alumnae/i programs, as well as the 5th, 10th, 15th, 30th, and 55th reunion classes, mini-reunions, and undergraduate and alumnae/i outreach programs. In addition, I will be responsible for maintaining AAVCs online calendar of activities.
I have much experience working with nonprofit organizations and in event organization and planning. I look forward to adapting my skills into the world of alumnae/i relations, and working with you to help ensure your future events go as smoothly as possible.
I can be contacted at either caschuster@vassar.edu or 845.437.5440.
Vassar for a lifetime! Respectfully,
Candace J. Schuster |
